We all dance beautifully in this world
When I was a college student, I had a wonderful opportunity to visit Tokushima to see Awa-Odori. Awa-Odori is a largest traditional Japanese dance festival in Japan that's held in Tokushima every Summer during Obon (Obon is Japanese buddhist tradition which we welcome ancestral spirit to come visit us). It was a mesmerising event.
Awa-Odori has this verse that goes something like "dancing fools and watching fools; if all are fools, let's just dance."
To me, this speaks a lot about how we live.
This also reminds me of one of J-pop songs with a lyric that goes something like "This world always entertains me, Let's play until the time I stop moving."
The year 2017 was quite an interesting year for me, with a lot of explorations, unexpected experiences and intense emotions. Towards the end of the year, I had an opportunity to come to a full realization of that "we are here to experience."
We laugh and we cry.
We get happy and sad.
We feel angry and miserable.
We have fun.
We suffer.
How do I want to be with each moment?
How do I want to be with each experience?
Whatever we do, however we be, we are all fools in our own ways. If that's the case, why don't we just dance and have fun?
Whatever we do, however we be, I feel we all dance beautifully and powerfully in this world.
